It was a nice sunny day today! We checked on the baby wrens - they seem to be doing well, although the nest has been discovered by our neighbours!! Spoke to Susan this evening - she said her interview had gone well so she's just waiting to hear now.

Susan phoned this morning - she's got her interview tomorrow - it's all sounding good. I phoned Anne and arranged to pick her up at 2.30 and we went into town for a couple of hours which we both really enjoyed. She hasn't been out much since her latest operation so we had a little wander around and just took it slowly. I dropped her off and then went to knitting - just me and Cheryl this evening but it was lovely to catch up with her and hear all about the wedding and see some photos. Photo is the wren's nest that's on Mark and Lorna's coal shed door - you can just see the four little beaks!!!

Raining - again! I contacted Kaori, Louise and Cheryl to say I'd be at knitting tomorrow evening. Then started to catch up on my phone calls. I phoned Beryl first - she's not been very well and was waiting for the doctor to call - she just said she was 'under the weather'. I told her I was sorry for not contacting her for ages. I tried Paddy but no reply. Then I phoned Win - had a nice little chat with her. I told her that Fraser has scanned in some old photographs from slides - told her we would email them to Stephanie. Then I called Alice - she was on the train on her way in to Liverpool. She said they are getting straight with the house - Louise has just flown over to America again. They've ordered new bathroom suites and Louise and Jamie have bought a new fire surround from Preston. I spoke to Peter and Val - lovely to speak to them. They enjoyed their 'grand tour'. They said it was lovely in the north of Scotland - beautiful beaches and scenery but not great weather. We spoke about 'Jezzer' and all said we hope he will be voted in!!! I texted Darren - I haven't been in touch with him for ages too. Then I phoned Susan - she's got her interview on Thursday - it's all sounding very positive. She's also got the chance of a job at Fabric Warehouse! My second pair of baby socks - I'm on my third pair now. They're really quick and easy to do.

Raining again! I arranged to meet Justina in Kendal at 2.00pm - we went to the Abbot Hall to see an exhibition of St. Ives' painters - it wasn't very good but nice to catch up with Justina. We're planning to meet up again on 8 August to do our one day black and white landscape photography course at Farfield.

It has rained for most of today! Whilst it was dry this morning, I did a bit of gardening (clearing the weeds from the path!) and Fraser finished painting the kitchen. Then the rain started! So, we watched the last day of the Tour de France - it was pouring with rain in Paris too! Fraser found this fungus in amongst our overgrown grass!
Saturday, 25 July 2015
A nice day today! I drove into Sedbergh to take another box of books to the Post Office (I'm selling them on Trade-in on Amazon). Fraser went for a bike ride.

I went and did my shopping first thing - I won't go to knitting this evening. Finished my 'Into the Green' socks today - another pair to add to my collection! Better weather today. Fraser's new bike arrived and my 'old' embroidery book 'Embroidery and Needlework' by Gladys Windsor Fry - it's a lovely old book. Angela had a copy at the Embroiderers' Guild on Saturday so I decided to order a copy.
Tuesday, 21 July 2015
Allan phoned - he's off to Totnes today on the bus! He said the weather was lovely down there!! It's not here - it's raining again!!! Susan phoned - weather is lovely there too!!! I did a bit more embroidery on my 'pin cushion' - I think I may stop now!
Monday, 20 July 2015
A day at home today - it rained on and off all day so a bit miserable! I didn't go to knitting - again! Kate called in before they left and showed me her latest quilt that she has had long-arm quilted - it's lovely!
Sunday, 19 July 2015
Spent most of today sorting out the boxes that Fraser had taken out of the cellar - managed to get rid of quite a lot of stuff (I'll take it to Age Concern next week). We watched the Tour this afternoon (Froome still winning).
Saturday, 18 July 2015
Kate and I drove over to Bentham to see Rosie's students' exhibition 'A Moment in Time'. We bumped into Heather and Cliff - lovely to see them. The exhibition was really good - some really lovely and inspiring work!! We left there and stopped at the Country Fayre place just before Kirkby Lonsdale and had a quick lunch, then drove into Kendal. I left Kate and I went to my Embroiderers' Guild meeting - we carried on with our stumpwork project (butterfly and leaves) - a nice afternoon. Met up again with Kate and we drove home. This is Heather's work.
Friday, 17 July 2015
Up early and Alice and I went to the tip - again!! We did a lot of tidying up outside - moving bags and other things from and into the garage. I left at 2.00pm and didn't get home until 5.00 - I got stuck in an accident on the M6 and got held up for an hour. Nice to be home though!
Thursday, 16 July 2015
Louise was gone by the time I got up. Alice, Jamie and I carried on with cleaning and getting things sorted - still lots to do! We went out for a nice meal this evening - we went to the pub in the village.
Wednesday, 15 July 2015
Left home at 8.00 am to drive to Southport. Lovely weather all the way and a really easy drive. I arrived at 10.00 and got stuck into helping Alice - there was lots of cleaning and tidying to do! I was exhausted by the end of day but we got lots done. Fraser took this photograph - he said it was a hare!

Woke up to rain and it rained for most of the day. Allan phoned to say he was going to spend the day in Exeter. I spoke to Alice - they are all ready to move tomorrow and I'm going down on Wednesday. I went into Sedbergh and took the boxed up books to the Post Office.
Sunday, 12 July 2015
A day at home - Fraser got some boxes out of the cellar and we're hoping to go through some of them and have a bit of a cull. I packed up some books to sell on Amazon Trade-in.
Saturday, 11 July 2015
We decided to drive up to Berwick-upon-Tweed today! It was lovely there - sunny and warm. We sat and ate fish and chips by the sea (the Spittal). We wandered around the walled area and looked out to sea. We drove back up through Scotland (Kelso, Selkirk and Hawick) and down to Carlisle and then home.

Met up with Sheila and Janice at the bridge at Millthrop to go for a walk. We tried to do the walk Fraser and I had done recently but I got us lost and it was wet and we got soaked!! By the time we got back to our cars, the rain had stopped and it was sunny!!!

Fraser and I drove up to Kirkcudbright today. It was a bit dull when we left home but lovely when we got there. We went and looked at a couple of art and photography exhibitions and then had a look around Broughton House (home of Scottish artist E A Hornel). A lovely day!
Friday, 3 July 2015
Hot and sunny again! I went over to Farfield Mill to get some yarn for Kaori - she bought some at Woolfest last weekend but doesn't think she has enough. I had a look at the exhibition by Textilia - some very nice work there.
Wednesday, 1 July 2015
Went into Kendal to do some shopping and then on to knitting group - only Kaori, Anne and me there! Lovely to see Anne (with Scout) - she's having her op next Wednesday. It's been hot again today so we sat outside the pub and nattered and knitted. More flowers from J's garden.
