Drove to Settle this morning to have my hair cut. Another wet and windy day. Fraser went for a run and got soaked!!

Phoned Allan this morning - he's OK. Got on with my 'crewel' beach huts embroidery - it's nearly finished. Susan phoned this afternoon to say it had gone OK this afternoon. It has rained all evening and been quite cold! Didn't go to knitting this evening.

Caught up on my chores today and did lots of washing it was lovely sunny and windy. Drove to the Strickland Arms at Sizergh this evening to meet up with Anne, Louise and Cheryl - we had a lovely meal and a good catch-up!

We drove over to Ripon today and went to Fountains Abbey and Studley Water Gardens. It was a bit of a dull day but it was a lovely place to walk around.

Fraser brought the campervan from Dent and we cleaned it out and put the newly-covered cushions back in. They look good - we just have to plan our next trip away now!!!

A lovely sunny day. We drove over to Askrigg and walked from there through Newbiggin and on to Worton Scar and through Bainbridge and back to Askrigg. It was a lovely walk and it turned out to be really warm.

I texted Mo today - it's her last day at work!!!! I've finished my butterfly wings - I'm quite pleased with them! It rained most of the morning and it's still cold here.

It was a bit brighter today but still cold. I drove into Kendal this afternoon. Did a bit of shopping then went to the knitting group at the pub. A nice evening - everyone turned up! I got two belated birthday presents - Margaret gave me two balls of Lang wool (lovely colours) and Louise gave me some gorgeous alpaca wool and some chocolates!

We drove over to Harrogate and Knaresborough - just to have a little look around the place. Weather wasn't great but we had a very nice lunch in a café by the river in Knaresborough.

I went into Kendal and went to look at the exhibition by the Stricklandgate Stitchers - it was very good - mostly patchwork but there was a lovely sample of banjara stitch which I photographed. Then I went to the Embroiderers' Guild and had a lovely afternoon there - learning how to do stumpwork.

Spent today with Justina. I picked her up at J.36 and we drove to Lancaster. We went to the Maritime Museum first to see a textile exhibition by Preston Threads called 'Time and Tide'. Their work was really lovely! Then we drove to Williamson Park and walked up to the Ashton Memorial and then went into the Butterfly House. A lovely day in all!

Went into Kendal this afternoon and then straight to knitting. Had a nice evening at knitting. Anne gave Cheryl and me a crocheted brooch for our birthdays - very nice!

Opened my cards and presents this morning and I got lots of text messages too! Had a bit of a lazy day - made up this cushion from a piece of knitting that I did a little while ago. It felted really well and was easy to make up.

We drove to Arnside and had fish and chips for lunch - lovely! We went into Kendal afterwards and did some shopping and then home again.

I stayed up all night to hear the results - slept on and off! Tories won an outright majority and the SNP won every seat in Scotland apart from three (hurrah!). I've been trying to get a photo of the baby thrushes in this nest which is balancing precariously over the beck!

Not a very nice day today! I drove into Kendal first thing and got wet walking around town! Then went to pick Sheila up and we drove to Janice's. We were supposed to be going walking but it was too wet so we went to Beetham Garden Centre and had a nice lunch. It brightened up in the afternoon! I went back into town and then to knitting. Lou and Anne turned up so really nice to see them. I've crocheted these coasters and felted them.

Horrible weather this morning!! I went out into the garden and took up the groundsheet, dug the soil over and planted the plants that I've had sitting around for over a week! I got a bit wet and muddy but good to get everything into the garden. I planted a magnolia, clematis, lavatera and a couple of other shrubs, four achillea plants, three fuscia bushes, some geraniums and some aubretia plants. Hope they all grow!

Fraser and I drove to Millthrop, parked up and walked through and around Sedbergh and back along the river - a lovely walk! We went to Askrigg in the evening for a meal with Kate and Dennis - a lovely evening too!

Not a very nice day here today! So - I had a tidy-up in my spare room and I'm throwing lots of wool away - lots of acrylic stuff that I will probably never use. I'll take it to Age UK next week.

A nice sunny day today but a bit cold. Phoned Yvonne this morning to wish her a happy birthday and spoke to Steve too. Phoned Beryl to thank her for the letter. Started making a bag from the fabric I bought when Susan was here.
